Toyota Ku Rin – land speed racing record on compressed air
0One of the alternative options in the automotive industry are machines with pneumatic engines, engines running on compressed air. However, while that the creators of these cars have nothing to brag about. Is that record speed, which recently put the car Toyota Ku Rin.
Car Toyota Ku Rin (Ku translates from Japanese as “air”, Rin – as a “wheel”) provides a separate research group at the corporation Toyota, which is studying the possibility of a full-fledged car with air motor. This group consists of forty people. And finally, it boasts a real achievement! They designed a car Toyota Ku Rin, which set a speed record of air transport.
This little machine is 3.5 meters in length and width slightly less than one meter has developed considerable for this tiny vehicle speed – 129.2 kilometers per hour. True, the drive on three cylinders of compressed air to this car was only 3.2 kilometers.
This is the main problem with the pneumatic motor vehicles. Charge cylinders are missing just a few kilometers. A call in every 2 km to refuel tired of even the most patient driver!
But air cars don’t emit into the atmosphere of a gram of harmful substances. The air that is used in them as fuel costs next to nothing and weighs almost nothing! So, it is possible for such machines is the future! Unless, of course, engineers will learn to ride these vehicles on a single charge of air at least 20 kilometers.
