Toxic Garden – model of environmentally sustainable expansion of Austrian National Library
0Toxic Garden - a unique model of environmentally sustainable expansion of Austrian National Library, synthesizes the cultural and social institution green garden in a single spatial object, which will be built in Burrgartene (Vienna, Austria).
The futuristic design developed by experts from the architectural studio Kadri KergeK. For basis of concept was taken private garden, in the past belonged to the royal family of Habsburg. The existing library is a magnificent building, built in Baroque style and contains an extensive and valuable collection of books 18-19 centuries.
Royal Garden is located between the Austrian National Library and a major greenhouse Palmenhaus, which is at right angles to the building of the library. Nearby are also the Austrian Film Museum and Albertina Museum.
The unique concept of a new facility synthesizes nature and modern architecture. Symbolic “roots” as a garden mutate into the architecture of the new structure, designed to create conditions for efficient interaction between the user and the nature and source of information.
Today’s advanced systems and technologies provide the formation of a favorable microclimate space Toxic Garden. At the moment the project is at concept stage and requires detailed work.
