The Large Hadron Collider out of LEGO
0Even people who don’t have the slightest idea of theoretical physics, know about the Large Hadron Collider - a giant particle accelerator built by CERN in the institute on the border of France and Switzerland. But the Danish physicist Sascha Mehlhase has created its own LHC, however, out of the LEGO.
LEGO – this versatile material. Experience has shown that it can be to build all your heart desires, even the most complex designs. As an example, a hothouse of LEGO bricks , LEGO Chess from and even a real LEGO-house . However, all this – little things. After Dane Sascha Mehlhase built from this dconstructor the Large Hadron Collider!
Sascha Mehlhase has a university diploma and doctorate in physics. He works on a specialty – a theoretical physicist, and in his spare time, research on collecting various designs of LEGO. So he decided to combine the two main passions in his life and built of a favorite constructor the Large Hadron Collider.
BAC from Danish physicist has a scale 1 to 50, compared with the original, located at CERN. Created it nine and a half thousand cubes of LEGO. And the construction of this amazing work of Sascha Mehlhase took 33 hours. Another 48 hours forbade the creation of three-dimensional model of the collider on the computer on which the Dane then collected his own version of LHC.
However, Mehlhase made not complete version of the Large Hadron Collider, but only one of its parts – the detector ATLAS, intended for the investigation of proton-proton collisions.
