Sword in the Stone: the biggest climbing wall in the world
0Climbing it’s so cool, as opposed to alpinism, it is not necessary to go somewhere in the mountains. Because climbing walls are located in almost every more or less a major city. And in the Dutch city of Groningen is the largest of them called “Excalibur”.

But in the city of Groningen in the Netherlands do not seem to know half-measures. After all, architectural firm Klimcentrum Bjoeks created the largest climbing wall in the world, giving it the name Excalibur.
This unusual name apparently chosen because of the fact that this form of climbing walls like a sword sticking out of the stone, as in the legend about King Arthur. Such illusions, in principle, are not true, because the legendary Excalibur monarch received from the Virgin of the Lake, and drew his sword from a stone called Clarent. But it is – a common misconception, so that you can forgive the creators of this audacious project.
After climbing walls height Excalibur is 37 (thirty-seven!) Meters, equal to about a twelve-building. Agree, even for experienced climbers can have a head spinning from such incredible heights!
However, this sword-like climbing wall is not just for super pros in the sport. After all, it have a curved lance, the angle which increases towards the top. Total deviation from its top Excalibur basis of eleven meters. So that beginners can climb on a simple bottom of this skyscraper climbing walls, and the experience of climbing higher and higher until they reach the top.
And there is no need for Everest!
