Superconductivity in everyday life: music UFO
0Superconductivity - the state of matter in which it has zero resistance. Music – a state of soul where it feels most pleasure from the sound. What are the similarities between these phenomena and UFOs? The concept of a flying dynamics, based on superconductivity, which could revolutionize the world of audio devices in the future! Crazy idea, or a reasonable fantasy – judge for yourself.
Superconductivity - something like the holy grail for physicists, materials scientists, and of finding a substance having strictly zero resistance at room temperature, it would be very tempting. But already achieved great success obtained materials, which are already superconductivity at liquid nitrogen temperatures. Designer-optimist James Coleman believes that scientists will succeed, and superconductivity will enter every house. What’s next?
One of the amusing properties of superconducting magnets – the fact that the charge is distributed on their surfaces perfectly evenly, resulting in over a superconductor can be hung in the air magnet. Levitating Superconducting Speakers (“Flying superconductivity column”) – two-part system: the top of a superconducting element and the bottom – magnetic ring.
After turning on the top of soaring above the bottom: managing high take-off, the user can greatly affect the quality of sound, its bass and volume. In the second version “column of superconductivity” user doesn’t control: the upper part of the system just rotates in the direction opposite to the bottom, which provides a unique stereo.
Of course, the idea of James Coleman – this is more a fantasy on the theme of “Sound of the Future” than a real project. But it is also shouldn’t be called a joke: Levitating Superconducting Speakers – genuine attempt to think about what can benefit not only the superconductivity in giant accelerators chstits, but in ordinary apartments. Maybe in 20-30 years, when British scientists will find a substance with a high temperature superconductivity, a concept unusual sound waiting for a brilliant renaissance.
