It’s amazing, but in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, there is very surprising for a city rarity – a complex of three silos, which for many years not being exploited. That’s one of them a Dutch architectural firm NL architects and proposes to convert into a multi-purpose center with climbing walls on its outer surface.

Apparently, Climbing – it is a very popular sport in the Netherlands. Circumstantial evidence of this is the presence in this country the world’s largest climbing wall called Excalibur, and a project of the company Siloo O NL architects.

Siloo O involves creating a climbing gym on the basis of one of the old silos on the island Zeeburgereiland in the city of Amsterdam. In fact, these facilities are planning to turn into office centers. But architects NL architects suggest not to stop and just vary the functionality of objects.

In the vision of people from NL architects, on the outer surface of one of the three above-mentioned towers shall be set up a real rock climbing, where extremals around Amsterdam will be able to hone their skills. 

Nevertheless, within Siloo O will be in office and entertainment space. It is planned to equip the coffee shop, restaurant and nightclub. Moreover, the climbing will be on the outside of the building, and directly inside (internal volume it will be implemented in a cave, tapering upwards). Also in this building there is a place for a library, exhibition hall and information center for tourists.

With the remaining two towers of the complex building-climbing wall Siloo O will be connected through stair-bridge unit, common to two adjoining buildings.
