Upon installing the elevator in the home, one faces multiple problems, the primary concern being lack of space, not to mention the costliness of the equipment and its care. But in Argentina, a new type of elevator has been engineered that is apt to revolutionize the market for elevator devices. A vacuum elevator is manufactured from aluminum and polycarbonate, and installation requires only a few hours.
Unlike existing elevators, this one is automated, extremely lightweight, having the floor area of about one square meter, and it doesn t need an elevator shaft. It can be installed in two- and three-storied buildings.
The pneumatic vacuum elevator looks astonishing with its see-through cabin and absolutely no cables. It resembles technology from futuristic movies, working on the basis of ultramodern technologies.
Around 300 of such elevators have been installed, with basic laws of physics responsible for their operation. Due to the difference in air pressure above or below, the cabin either rises or lowers. The elevator is meant to carry up to 200 kg.
The elevator is perfectly safe. Even if electricity is lost, it will stop at the next floor. The only downside is the speed only 15 cm/sec, whereas conventional elevators usually average 1-1.5 m/sec.
