The capital of Manila constructed the Philippines Arena when the different clubs and countries participated in today’s ‘arms race’ whereby they compete in building huge, modern and complex stadiums.
In 2018, the World Cup will be held in Russia that is already constructing, or planning to, beautiful and modern stadiums. According to the official announcement, the smallest stadium will be in Rostov-on-Don and it will accommodate 43,702 spectators. The biggest stadium will be in Moscow, Luzhiniki with a sitting of 89,318 spectators. In comparison to these stadiums, the Manila Philippines Arena will accommodate 50,000 spectators. Going by the world standards of stadiums, the Manila arena is not extremely big. Nevertheless, it will be a stadium record!
After the construction that is already underway, Philippines Arena will be the first indoor arena globally. The roof will not slide like in some arenas; it will be fixed. Furthermore, the capacity will be doubled once seats are installed on the field and the designs time-mounted. Other than being the biggest indoor arena, it will generally become the biggest arena in the world!
The Philippines arena project has been developed by Populous, an international architectural company. The owners of the project are the National Filipino church Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ). Other than just the World Cup, the arena is expected to hold other events like concerts and worship that are related to the church.
The arena’s opening has been planned for the year 2014.
