Paperphone – Flexible smartphone of the nearest future
0We are used to mobile phones and Internet access, for space flight, plasma screens and a host of other things that not so long ago seemed fantastic. And in the near future we will have to get used to the other once unreal innovation. For example, a flexible computers and telephones. A working prototype of the last named Paperphone was recently presented by engineer Roel Vertegaal. Vertegaal several years worked hard to create a computer screen, which could easily bend and crumple. First of all it adds a much greater reliability in the external physical impacts, and, secondly, provides a huge number of new features that would be unthinkable in a gadget with a common screen.
Mobile phone, which can be controlled by physical forces, we have seen not so long ago in the concept of designer Rimino Moradganjeh Amid. But it was only a concept, but Roel Vertegaal created, indeed, a working machine.
To activate a particular function to navigate through the menu, to switch between tabs and open applications, the owner will need to bend Paperphonein certain places. In the same way you can turn the pages of e-books, audio player to switch tracks and perform many other actions to control this unusual machine.
Of course, the technology developed by Roel Vertegaalom, is still far from perfect.Current Paperphone has only black and white screen, but using technology E-Ink. Creating a full color display Foldaway, and then working with appropriate devices take several more years. But it’s not so much compared to the period that we have waited for their appearance! And on the other hand what opportunities this technology will give users in the future! In the very near future!
In order to better imagine what opportunities have Paperphone now and what will be in the future, we suggest you to look the following video presentation created by Roel Vertegaal:
