Joule – the first African electric car

And much more less developed countries can boast of similar achievements. For example, South Africa, where was created the first on the African continent electric car called Joule.
South African company Optimal Energy, founded in 2005, the year, announced the release of Joule electric car a few years ago. But only now these promises were fulfilled, and the car was unveiled.
This five-door car designed for five people (a driver and four passengers). It has a spacious trunk volume of 185 liters. On a single battery charge Joule able to travel up to 300 kilometers. The process of a full charge takes about seven hours.
Of unusual innovations may be mentioned that the electric Joule will be sold without batteries – they you need to rent a company Optimal Energy on a monthly basis for a very modest money. This will significantly reduce the initial cost of the machine. Moreover, battery warranty with 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year - free.
The maximum speed that can develop Joule, is 140 kilometers per hour. Acceleration to 100 km per hour is 16 seconds. Of course, there is nothing particularly revolutionary in the electric car Joule. But the fact of creating an electric car in not very rich and developed country, now is the way South Africa, is already causing concern. Especially, the company Optimal Energy plans to promote car around the African continent.
So far, no precise information, about the cost of electric Joule. But we know that it will go on limited sale in the near future, and in mass – only in 2015 year.
