House in Possanco – dazzlingly minimalist and elegant house, built in Portugal by the draft of local architectural studio ARX Portugal Arquitectos . The ultra-modern form of construction is not an abstract creativity of its creators, but from the research paradigms inherent in the traditional architecture of the Alentejo.
Unusual relief house is located in the village Possanko, in the border area between the new urban stripe and protected agricultural zone. There are wonderful views over the vast plains, scenic ridge Arr?bida and the Atlantic Ocean, which flows into the local river Sado.
House in Possanco is not a permanent place of residence of the owners, but only a country house for weekends and holidays smaller. Here you can relax and disconnect from the hustle and bustle and stress of daily city life.
The multi-faceted composition of the house is a subtle allusion to the “folk architecture” that existed in the area before the technological era. Small house with a disproportionate angular roofs, often asymmetrical, with one or two penthouses have been designed to solve the problem of compactness in small plots.
Long roof terraces care about the coolness in summer and retain heat during the cold season. These abstract shapes and painted with white lime, combined with the natural landscape of the plains of Alentejo, and to this day represent the views amazing original beauty.
The orientation of the windows was chosen taking into account the climate of the region and the privacy of life for future residents of the house. These two aspects, together with the presence of a patio (an indispensable element of traditional local dwellings) have become key components of the project.
Almost all the windows of buildings provide views of the picturesque landscape. Delicate but strong and coherent architecture country house beautifully integrated into the traditional local flavor, bordering on the beginning of the modern city line.
