What soldier not wants to become a general? And what a beginning designer doesn’t see himself in the sweet dreams of the ambitious head of a successful fashion house, and then the next Lagerfeld? But to write own name in the history of fashion – not so easy. Therefore, most ambitious newcomers are tripping over themselves to impress the public with something really unusual, expressive, new. So if you crave new ideas, we recommend you to look them in the portfolio of yet unknown “designers”. As a warm-up we offer works of the representative of the “young cohort” Jantine van Peski.
Collection WIRES 10.0, which we show you today – it is Zhantin thesis for a master of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, studying in which she successfully completed in 2011. Novice designer has already worked with famous fashion houses Haider Ackermann and AF Vandevorst.
In her writings Zhantin focuses on two things: the silhouette and technique. The debut collection is inspired by the textile sculptures come from the 70′s and a few half-forgotten skill of macram?. Using a small rope and natural yarns, Peski tried to “weave” its first model in a few hours straight on a mannequin. The foundation was laid.
Works of Jantine van Peski are simple and complex at the same time: silhouettes – mostly laconic, with a predominance of straight lines. But they look quite unusual, such clothing – definitely not something that will meet every day on the street. And an interesting braided texture adds to things the spirit of “vintage.”
Models are made of one hundred percent silk and merino sheep wool. And leather as a framing for rich material.
And certainly in the clothing from Jantine van Peski feels safe and comfortable, like a cocoon. Stylish design cocoon.
