Eco-project of the new College of Engineering in the Doha, Qatar by Arab architects
9Architectural studio Mimar Emirates won the contest for the best project proposal building of the new engineering college in Qatar (Doha, Qatar), which is one of the main flagships of the local Qatar University. “Green” project is aimed at protecting the environment of Arabian Gulf and effective planning of urban infrastructure.
Projects that participated in the contest New College of Engineering competition, presented different options for the seven departments of the institution, whose area is 60 000 square meters. Students of college will be taught such areas as civil architecture, electrical, chemical, mechanical and computer systems.
Preliminary concept of the structure is designed to create spatial relationships between academic buildings and campus, which was defined as the “spine” on campus to create the main axis of the structure.
Embossed green roofs, integrated into a complex help to favorable and effective heat balance in the premises of the college. Landscape design is integrated into the environment and evolve into architecture of the structure, providing a continuous connection between the landscape and new formation.
Such respect for the beauty of the natural appearance of the natural landscape and environmental concerns of the environment will contribute to a favorable microclimate inside and outside the college.
