DQZ Cultural Center – a project of the cultural center, located in Daqiuzhuang (China), developed by the architectural studio Holm Architecture Office. Located about 200 kilometers south of Beijing, DQZ Cultural Center simulates marshy terrain, in which it is located.
Built on an area, rich in a vegetation, a center combines in itself the features of local landscape and modern city space. Atrium building typology is based on the characteristics of traditional Chinese architecture.
A unique center created as a public space for exhibitions and various socio-cultural programs. The inner courtyard of the building contains a picturesque scene with the cherry trees and terraces, which can be used as an open platform for the views of local theaters and festival events. The central exhibition area of the Cultural Center offers views through the glass facades facing the courtyard and connecting the interior space to the outside.
Perforated steel facade provides natural ventilation facility. Cultural Center is designed with the integration of geo-thermal heating for heating and cooling, and the use of photovoltaic cells located on the side of the roof and in the public square.
