Clothing store in Shanghai Ports 1961
0The Bund – on the waterfront boulevard in Shanghai, blessed by the gods of design – along it are at least 52 buildings of the colonial era, built in various architectural styles from Gothic to neo-classical and urban art deco.
So when the owners of Ports 1961 asked Winka Dubbeldam to adapt its earlier concept design tiny shop women’s clothing brand based in London, for the boutique area of 2400 square feet on Bund, she rethought the concept visually, paying tribute to the historicity of the location – namely , clumsy building of Beaux Arts, built for the British trading company in the early 1900s. At the time, as space in the London store relatively modest, being in a wave-like interior of the boutique at Bund – a truly unique experience.
