Birdie, the original compact paper-knife from Yohei Oki
0Japanese designer Yohei Oki, winner of the Kokuyo design in 2007, specializes in the design of the original, stylish and useful household items. In this category, according to the author, such useful trifle, as a knife for a paper enters also.
The knife for a paper, or decorative object for a table or book shelf ornament, Birdie looks exactly as an exotic birdie with a long tail and a small beak. However for a tail to catch it the author does not recommend – it is sharply ground, that it is easy to cut, like clockwork, a paper and to open envelopes. On the contrary, it is necessary to clasp a trunk of a birdie as it is possible more strong. The designer has designed it so that a knife it was convenient was to hold a palm both to the adult person, and the child.
Project Birdie is issued in several colours, including “presidential” gold and silver. Last two, by the way, are made of a brass, whereas other multi-coloured knives – from more simple material, one of plastic versions. Thanks to that knives-birdies steadily stand on a table when them do not use, they can look as original tiny sculptures or souvenirs. Anybody also will not guess, for what they are necessary on a desk.
Should such a knife is only 525 yen, or about $ 7 apiece, for plastic birdie Birdie, and 62 dollars should be paid for Birdie from a brass.
