Specialists from the studio Mario Cucinella Architects won the competition to design the headquarters of the agency telecommunications ARPT Headquarters (Autorite de Regulation de la Poste et des Telecommunications) in Algeria. The concept of the building refers to the sand dunes and the tradition of Mediterranean architecture.
In the development of the object as the standard form of the architects used the typical gothic arch, characteristic of the Islamic regions. The resulting structure is also reminiscent of a huge sand dune, surrounded by the desert landscape.
The form of the building promotes natural cooling by means of a hot wind flows over convex surface of the northern facade, and the concave wall on the opposite side allows you to keep the cold air during the night. Occupying a place next to the main road, near the new city park on the outskirts of Algiers, ARPT Headquarters building is intended to be benchmark fusion of tradition and modernity in the region.
