Many of us once had witnessed or taken part a situation where, at first glance, the adverse circumstances became an occasion for creativity and inventiveness, the result of which surpassed all expectations. Project Vail Grant Residence has built a unique constructive house directly into the body of a steep hill, located on the suburban slopes Silverlake (California, USA).
As a result, ambitious integration inside the structure formed voids spacious and unusual volumes, providing living space for future residents. Expressive architecture of the building is literally intertwined with difficult natural landscape. Under certain economic constraints and difficulties of the relief area and a dedicated framework established by local building codes, the specialists of the American architectural studio V Pugh + Scarpa literally performed a small miracle. Precast concrete modules and light metal submitting a plan of architects, flexibly and efficiently integrated into the scenic hill.
In addition, the house gently and harmoniously with the local landscape communicates, it is environmentally sustainable. Solar panels at the rear of the structure, in combination with a geothermal air conditioning and natural convection, provide more than enough power generating capacity of the building.
Geometric, filled with natural light volume decorated with warm wood and fragments of the gloss suggests the formation of a stylish modern environment with minimalist furniture and living green plants.
